DSC04528The Water Environment Federation is partnering on Green Infrastructure & Water Management in Growing Metropolitan Areas, a conference scheduled for Jan. 14 to 16, 2014, in Tampa, Fla. The conference is organized by the University of South Florida Patel College of Global Sustainability and the University of Florida, with support from the U.S. Forest Service.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, the conference will cover innovative scientific and policy approaches to managing water, as well as ways to protect water resources in growing metropolitan regions, by applying emerging urban design models to green infrastructure.

Abstracts are due Oct. 1 and should cover one of the following conference topics:

  • defining the benefits of green infrastructure;
  • barriers to green infrastructure implementation;
  • funding green infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance; or
  • implementation strategies for governments, communities, and developers.
