Cities, towns, counties, and ports covered by Phase I or Phase II municipal stormwater permits in Washington state are encouraged to apply for $7 million in available funds for stormwater construction projects. Applications are due to the Washington State Department of Ecology by June 14.

Last year, the Washington State Department of Ecology provided $68 million, funding 117 grants through the Supplemental Statewide Stormwater Grant Program. The funding currently available is made up of declined or deobligated funds from 2012.

According to Washington state financial managers, 11 jobs are created for every million dollars spent on construction and design funding. Based on this calculation, this round of funding will create approximately 77 jobs, most of which will likely be local construction jobs. Read more.
