Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) has released a research paper on the connections between green infrastructure, health, and community resiliency. The GRHC paper, “Exploring Connections Between Green Infrastructure & Healthy & Resilient Communities,” reviews a growing body of literature illustrating how building and community design has profound consequences for human health and happiness. In addition to raising awareness of those public health benefits, the paper also seeks to identify opportunities for further research, public policy development, and building design practice improvements.
GRHC has released the paper in advance of the event, Grey to Green, A Conference on the Economics of Green Infrastructure – Designing for Health. One of the keynote speakers Kathleen Wolf, University of Washington, also wrote for the Stormwater Report in April on the health co-benefits of green infrastructure.
