On June 12, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed legislation that will facilitate fast-track stormwater permits. Once the law is in place, permits can skip the standard technical review if they meet minimum design criteria set by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. The minimum design criteria would ensure that stormwater management systems comply with state water quality standards and would cover all aspects, from siting and design to construction and monitoring. This process is expected to be in place by July 1, 2016.
