Kingsport, Tenn., debuted a stormwater mobile application as part of an Earth Day celebration. The app, intended for children, features Stormy, the water drop. Stormy guides children through a scavenger hunt designed to teach them about stormwater issues. The hunt takes children around to different outfalls where they can scan QR codes on posted signs. The game is complete when 10 outfall QR codes are scanned. Not only do children earn the designation “water protector,” but prizes will be available. The mobile app helps Kingsport fulfill the outreach portion of its stormwater permit.
