In May, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) held a workshop on low impact development (LID) design competitions. The workshop was a discussion forum for cities that have held competitions and offered a training opportunity for those with interest. The project, funded by a Chesapeake Bay Trust grant, included the development of a white paper on hosting LID design competitions. The white paper is freely available online along with a library of other resources.
To date, competitions have taken place in Houston, San Antonio, North Texas, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Philadelphia. Further, a competition is under way in Washington, D.C., and competitions are in the planning stages in Pittsburgh, Memphis, and Chattanooga.
