U.S. EPA’s Water Quality Modeling Workgroup

EPA’s Water Quality Modeling Workgroup announces it’s second in a series of six webinars on water quality modeling. All six webinars will be focused on helping water quality professionals better understand modeling and how models can be used to solve the problems facing water quality regulators.  This second webinar, titled “Brick by Brick : How Water Quality Models are Developed,” kicks off the series on Thursday, April 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Eastern.  Presenters will focus on the planning and development of a water quality model. Participants will be introduced to the key steps in the model-building process, including Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), model selection, model setup, calibration, error/uncertainty evaluation, and model acceptance for decision-making.  Registration is required and is now available.

Additional Information:

The first webinar was recorded and will soon be archived.  The second webinar will also be recorded and archived at the same website.

Note: EPA is trying a different webcast platform that will hopefully eliminate some of the connectivity issues reported during the first webcast. Please be sure to view the system requirements prior to the webcast.  Also, the webinar platform has limited capacity (1000 person max).  EPA encourages people to share computers or use conferencing facilities where available, so that everyone may attend.
