The Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) is looking to develop guidance and a consistent approach for regulators to assign pollutant reduction credits for stream restoration as a best management practice. An agreed upon methodology is currently lacking in the sector despite the fact that communities have found stream restoration to be effective at reducing pollution and restoring riparian habitat. WERF has announced a request for proposals on this effort due Dec. 19. WERF expects that its budget for this project will be $60,000, while the expected project cost is $100,000. Those who plan to submit a proposal are encouraged to leverage WERF funding with additional partners and contributors.
